Tallest Boxers of Hajime no Ippo

Six out of the fifteen listed boxers are 180 cm and above. On the first and second rank are Mamoru Takamura and Morris West, who are both 185 cm or 6 feet. Their height can be compared to real-life boxers Evander Holyfield and Chad Dawson, who are both listed 185 cm tall, according to famousheights.net. On the other hand, Ryō Mashiba is on the 5th spot at exactly 180 cm, while the American boxer Bryan Hawk is on the 4th and is only taller by two centimeters.

Shortest Boxers of Hajime no Ippo

Surprisingly, the main character of the series, which eventually became a world champion, is the shortest among our top 15 list! Ippo Makunouchi is on the 15th spot at 165.10 cm or 5’4” and is comparable to former boxing champions Henry Armstrong and Carl Frampton, measuring 165 cm as per famousheights.net. Despite his height, he has a mighty punch that knocks out opponents. 

Other worth-mentioning professional boxers on the lower spots of our ranking are Manabu Itagaki (168 cm), Alexander Volg Zangief (167.60 cm), Takeshi Sendō (167.50 cm), and Kyōsuke Imai (167.00). They are all considered strong boxers in the series despite their height.

Other interesting comparisons

Right on the 7th spot are bestfriends Masaru Aoki and Tatsuya Kimura, who are both 171 cm tall. Mamoru Takamura scouted them into boxing, and together along with Ippo Makunouchi and Manabu Itagaki, they form the core members of the Kamogawa Boxing Gym.
